The first 3D printed mosque in the world
The first 3D printed mosque in the world will be built in Dubai. The new mosque dubai project is expected to be finished in 2025 and was started with the vision and guidance of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
600 worshippers will be able to enter the mosque, which will have a floor size of 2,000 square meters. The mosque’s construction will start in October of this year.
Al-Halyan stated that the mosque work will commence on the site at the beginning of the current year’s fourth quarter of 2023.
The printed substance will be a mixture of raw materials and unique concrete, according to Ali Al Suwaidi, the engineering department’s director at IACAD. In a news conference, Ali Al Suwaidi said, “The cost is 30% higher than constructing the mosque in the conventional method because it is the first of its sort in the world. ” We expect the cost will be similar in the future with a 30 years building guarantee.”
Why 3D Printing construction technique for Dubai new mosque?
“3D printing will reduce the number of wasted building materials. It is environmentally friendly. IACAD Director General Hamad Al Shaibani stated that the Dubai new mosque “represents the vision of our knowledgeable leadership.”
Currently, the IACAD is working with the Dubai Municipality to obtain the design’s final approvals.

To position the emirate as a regional and international hub for the technology, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, issued a decree in August 2021 regulating the use of 3D printing in the city’s building sector. By 2030, a quarter of the emirate’s buildings should be constructed using the technology, according to the legislation.
Dubai 3D Printed Building Strategic Alliance
The 3D Printing Strategic Alliance, a first-of-its-kind effort that establishes a substantial network of governmental organizations, academic institutions, and 3D printing businesses in the UAE and throughout the world, has been launched by the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. H.H. made the alliance official. In the year 2020, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s Crown Prince, will serve as the organization’s chairman of the board of trustees.
The newly created 3D Printing Strategic Alliance intends to establish the Middle Eastern city as a top hub of Dubai 3D printed building a network of resources, goods, and services across several industries to increase self-sufficiency.
As part of the effort, Dubai will create a community dedicated to the creation, testing, and use of 3D printing technologies. The district will include research institutes, multinational corporations, startups, applied engineering companies, and business accelerator groups, all of which are somehow related to 3D printing. According to reports, the hub will also contain the largest warehouse in the area for the storage and delivery of materials and goods for 3D printing.
Hamdan bin Mohammed tweeted, “Today we formed the 3D Printing Strategic Alliance to give a forum that unifies all companies engaged in this crucial area. Our objective is to accelerate the acceptance and application of this cutting-edge technology to help all governmental, commercial, health, and scientific sectors in Dubai and around the globe. We will strengthen our industrial skills through the Alliance and in partnership with 3D printing businesses, secure our basic needs, and establish new production lines based on the use of future technologies. Together with the private sector, we will also establish a strategic virtual network to ensure quick response to local requirements in times of emergency and to attain self-sufficiency.
The Dubai 3D Printing Strategy, which was introduced in 2016 with the goal of increasing the adoption of additive manufacturing across important industries including construction and healthcare, serves as the foundation for the new 3D Printing Strategic Alliance.
The primary goal of the 3D Printing Strategic Alliance’s first phase is to increase UAE production capacity for medical equipment and supplies by setting up 3D printing production lines.
